Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of 10 caches based between Preston and Sutton Poyntz. The total distance is around 2 miles and follows a popular dog walking route.

As you walk down the gently slope, Sutton Poyntz stretches out in front of you with the White Horse in the background. St Andrews Church at Preston is also visible.

Most of the caches contain numbers which need to be collected and used to find the bonus. Unfortunately due to SSSI restrictions the Bonus is not active, but take a note anyway incase I get a thumbs up from the SSSI authority.

The containers vary from micro to small and ‘others’. You will need to take a pen or pencil to sign the logs.

The route is generally well drained and dry, but there is one short muddy section. The route is quite hilly and not suitable for wheelchairs.

There may be sheep in the fields so it is advisable to keep dogs on a lead.

Look out for deer, buzzard, and enjoy listening to the skylarks. After the water reservoir on the return leg, look out for Alpaccas, Rhia, and also our very own pygmy goats, (Marmite and Twiglet)

The route takes you around Chalbury Hill Fort which is a much smaller version of the hill fort at Maiden Castle, you can walk up on to it for an even better view! It is a roughly triangular little enclosure of about 4 hectares and was once protected by a single ditch and a rampart of limestone slabs, obtained from quarry ditches inside the fort.

You are looking for a 35mm film container
