Congratulations to KTTL CRN for the FTF and his very first ever FTF.
Update: The bridge between the locked gate in Langendorf Playground is locked because the bridge is out. The sign on Marie indicates this problem. However, the cache is on the wooden staircase on the Marie side of the stream and therefore reachable even though there is a sign saying it's closed. I didn't post earlier because the upper staircase was overgrown. That has been cleared, but there are no hand rails, so be aware of where you step and be quiet to not disturb the neighbors on either side.
Sausalito homes are nestled into steep hills and ravines that are reached by curvy roads, paths and stairways. The stairways were built in the early days as short cuts. They are still used today by many residents. Finding this path, small bridge and stairway hidden behind a tall fence at the back of Langendorf Playground was a surprise. My original intention was to place a cache somewhere in the environs of this little park. You are looking for a magnetic hide-a-key holder that's been sprayed a metallic brown.
This shouldn't be too hard, as there isn't a lot of metal around. So think creatively and constructively, and you will be rewarded. You will have to reach, but not too far. I'm short. Per simongnomis' log of 5/25/14, the most you'd have to do is stand or kneel along the edge of the public path on the uphill side and reach. I've added a hint to keep searchers from disturbing the neighbors' property.
Daylight hours only. Bring your own pen or pencil. Note: Easterby entry, the gate is locked because the bridge is out. if you park on Woodward Avenue park near the staircase to Marie. Best choice is to park on Marin. It's your choice to ignore the sign, but because there is no handrail leading to GZ I've raised the the terrain rating to 3.0-3.5.
