This is the site of an A-7D Corsair attack jet crash. The cache is in an official geocache plastic container. You can hike the Bear Creek Cycle Trail to get to this side of the mountain, but will have to travel off the path for the cache. Terrain is step. A shorter route could be to swim or boat across. If swimming, remember there is a boat ramp and boat traffic can be heavy at times. A lifejacket is always a great idea!
On Friday, March 27, 1987 around 8pm the quiet campgrounds of Daisy State Park was awaken by a large boom! An A-7D Corsair attack jet crashed into the side of this mountain. Campers had debris fall into their RVs and through tents; however, no one was injured in the campgrounds. Park guests who saw the plane go down said that they thought the plane would of hit the park, but the pilot saw the RV patio lights and turned his aircraft into the mountain side.
