Geocache Description:

Located in Manti Park, this is a nice cache for a nature walk. Not wheelchair accessible. Cache placed with permission by the Shenandoah Parks Department.

The story of Manti (the first town founded in Fremont County) is tied to the history of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (Mormon Church). By 1855 Manti was a bustling settlement of 30 to 40 families. For a number of years the town was the principal settlement in western Page and eastern Fremont counties. By 1871 little remained of Manti. In 1878 the last resident moved away, and the town was totally deserted. Today, Manti is a farming area, noted for its scenic beauty and walnut trees. It is now a park under the control of the City of Shenandoah.
