Eagle Crag

One of the first settlers at Devils Lake was Louis J. Claude (1825-1893) who arrived here from Westmoreland, England in 1851. Claude wanted to settle near the water with enough area to farm so in 1857 he built his home on the north shore of Devil's Lake and named it Eagle Crag after his favorite place back home. Eagle Crag was made of pine beams with wooden pegs in the joints and a carved Butternut mantlepiece. It remained standing in the park until 1953.

This cache is located in Devil's Lake State Park. A vehicle admission sticker is required. The Devil's Lake State Park map will be a helpful resource when seeking this cache. The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Steven Schmelzer of Devil's Lake State Park.
