Beschreibung Deutsch: Die Psychiatrische Universitätsklinik Zürich, traditionell und im Volksmund Burghölzli genannt, ist eine der Universität Zürich angehörige psychiatrische Klinik. Sie befindet sich beim Burghölzli, einem bewaldeten Hügel im Quartier Riesbach im Südosten der Stadt Zürich. Die Eröffnung der Klinik fand 1870 statt. Unter den Direktoren ragen besonders Auguste Forel (Direktor 1879-1898) und Eugen Bleuler (Direktor 1898-1927) heraus. Zu den namhaften Psychiatern, die zeitweilig an der Klinik tätig waren, gehören neben den bereits genannten Carl Gustav Jung, Karl Abraham, Ludwig Binswanger und Eduard Hitzig. Auch Albert Einsteins Sohn, Eduard Einstein, war Patient am Burghölzli. Heute ist die Klinik ein bedeutsamer Teil der psychiatrischen Versorgung des Kantons Zürich. Die Anstaltsmauer, die das ganze Areal umschloss, wurde 1968 abgebrochen und durch den bis heute sichtbaren Holzzaun ersetzt. Das Klinikareal und die Cafeteria sind öffentlich zugänglich. Am einfachsten ist es, wenn man mit Tram 11 oder der Forchbahn bis Balgrist fährt oder das Cachermobil auf dem Besucherparkplatz lässt und den hinteren Eingang des Areales benutzt (Lieferanteneingang). Dann kann man an der Cafeteria vorbei oder via Gärtnerei auf den Hügel.
Description English: Burghölzli is the common name given for the psychiatric hospital of the University of Zürich, Switzerland. The hospital is located on "Burghölzli", a wooded hill in the district of Riesbach of southeastern Zürich. The history of the hospital began in the early 1860s, when internist Wilhelm Griesinger at the University of Zurich made plans for the creation of a modern psychiatric clinic for humane treatment of the mentally ill. Auguste-Henri Forel was the fourth director of Burghölzli, and spent nearly twenty years at the helm. Under his leadership, the hospital began to gain recognition throughout the medical world. In 1898 Eugene Bleuler became director of the Burghölzli, where he would remain until 1927. The "Bleuler era" is considered the most illustrious period at the hospital, largely due to the advent of psychoanalysis, usage of Freudian psychiatric theories, and the creative work of Bleuler's assistant, Carl Gustav Jung. In addition to Jung, many renowned psychiatrists spent part of their career at the Burghölzli, including Karl Abraham, Ludwig Binswanger, Hermann Rorschach, Franz Riklin, Constantin von Monakow, Adolf Meyer, Abraham Brill and Emil Oberholzer. Albert Einstein's son, Eduard Einstein was a patient at Burghölzli. Today the Burghölzli remains an important centre for psychiatric research and the treatment of mental illness.
