Geocache Description:

The Broadway was part of a revolutionary traffic scheme that aimed to provide a better motor transport link for the North Shore. History shows that it was never completed but an impressive remnant is on display here. This is a very simple multi with no need for a calculator, just read the signs and substitute the numbers.

The Broadway was intended to be the Western Arterial Road passing through Wahroonga, Turramurra, Fullers Bridge, Longueville and Wollstonecraft as an alternative route to the Harbour Bridge. The scheme was undertaken as a cooperative venture between various councils and the Department of Main Roads. Ku-Ring-Gai Council planned and constructed this section in 1927.

The coordinates will take you to a three sided information sign in Bradley Park. On the drive in along the only section of road still called The Broadway you will notice that it is a "divided road" for several hundred metres. Where you park you will notice the 'cobblestones' of the original road. This type of road was known as "Telford road". There is more information on the signs which you will need to find the final GZ.

The final coordinates are: S33 44.AZY E151 06.0BX

For A, B, X, Y and Z you need to answer the following questions.

1. The Broadway was intended to be YZ metres wide.

2. The stone base consists of irregular sandstone pieces A to B inches deep.

3. In 196X the unconnected sections of the road were given different names.

Now follow the wonderful old road to GZ! Don't take the tracks to the left, just follow the (yellow) brick road! Coordinates were averaged over a long time however reception can be patchy in this area.
