Geocache Description:

BYOP....

This is the 7th in a series telling the story of the birth/history of the Arizona Rangers.

The Smith gang had also ambushed U.S. Marshal George Scarborough in the same fashion as the young men from St. Johns in the Chirichua Mountains while he was in pusuit of the gang after the killing of Gibbons and Lesueur. It is written that some of the gang headed to Argentina after they killed Scarborough.

Later a man named Tod Carver was brought to St. Johns who was bragging about his part in the killings. Just as his trial was to begin, he was broke out of jail and never seen again.

Some members of the Smith gang were taken into custody without incident in the Gila Mountains where they had a cabin on Squaw Peak near the San Francisco River in New Mexico.
