The cache is not at the listed coordinates. This is another in my "geo nectics" series. Today we learn about DNA Extractions, which anyone can do with some frozen strawberries and the following method.
FTF Congratulations to hiking_fool who gave the rest of you an entire day to get it first!!
FTS (First to Solve) goes to Tom.dog for his enthusiastic response only minutes after this published! If you can't drive, or have small kids and can't always survive an impromptu drive with them, I am happy to award FTS credit!
DNA isolation is a routine procedure to collect DNA for subsequent molecular or forensic analysis. There are four basic steps in a DNA extraction. Put them in the correct order and you will unscramble the coordinates.
Removing proteins by adding a protease, or meat tenderizer for at home experiments. (68)
Breaking the cells open, commonly referred to as cell disruption or cell lysis, to expose the DNA within. This is commonly achieved by grinding or sonicating the sample. (287)
Precipitating the DNA with an alcohol — usually ice-cold ethanol or isopropanol. Since DNA is insoluble in these alcohols it will aggregate together. (57)
Removing membrane lipids by adding a detergent. (34)
Cache is at N39 and W104 degrees. Extract the rest.
