Rauchmelder als
Lebensretter / Fire detectors can save lives
Wird ein Feuer erst durch die
sichtbaren Flammen erkannt, kann es für den Menschen oftmals schon
zu spät sein. Der zuvor auftretende Rauch und dessen giftige
Brandgase können bei einem Schlafenden schnell zum Tode führen.
Dies kann durch die Installation von Brandmeldern verhindert
werden. Brandmelder sind in jedem Baumarkt erhältlich, müssen nicht
teuer sein und sind leicht zu installieren. Als Minimalschutz
sollte in Flurräumen (an der höchsten Stelle eines Wohnhauses) und
in den Schlafräumen je ein Melder installiert sein. Die Brandmelder
messen mit einer optischen Streulichtstrecke den
Rauchpartikelgehalt in der Luft und geben im Alarmfall einen
Warnton ab. Dieser Ton wird die schlafenden Bewohner nachts wecken
und Schlimmeres verhinden.
Um sicher zu gehen, dass die
Melder im Notfall auch funktionieren, sollen Brandmelder für den
Heimbereich immer vom VdS (Verband der Sachversicherer) nach der
Norm EN 14604 zertifiziert worden sein. Die Norm und das
VdS-Zeichen sind immer auf der Verpackung des Melders
sichtbar.
Für den FTF wurde in diesem Cache
ein neuer Brandmelder abgelegt (zur Installation ist eine
9V-Batterie notwendig, die wegen evtl. Probleme mit der Witterung
vorher entnommen wurde. Bitte nach der Installation unbedingt die
Funktion mit dem Testknopf prüfen!)
Noch ein Hinweis aus Wikipedia:
In Deutschland sind im Jahre 2008 immerhin noch 398 Menschen an den
Folgen von Bränden gestorben!!!
If a fire is only detected when
the fire is visible, this is probably too late for human beings.
The toxic smoke, which occurs at the very beginning of a fire, can
lead to a fast death for sleeping people. With an installation of
fire detectors, this can be prevented. Fire detectors are availably
in DIY stores, are not necessarily expensive and are easy to
install. As a minimum protection, fire detectors shall installed in
corridors (at the highest point at the ceiling) and in sleeping
rooms. The detectors can detect the occurance of smoke in the air
and will give an alarm using a sonder. This sounder signal will
wake up people in the night and prevent even worse.
To be sure, that the fire
detector will work in an alarm situation as intended, the detector
has to be approved by the VdS-department in accordance to EN 14604.
The standard and the VdS-sign are visible on the detectors
box.
The FTF will find a new fire
detector within this box (for installing the detector, a 9V-battery
is required; this battery was removed, since the could be harsh
environmental conditions in the cache box. Pls. Check the fire
detector by using the test button!)
An additional remark found in
german Wikipedia: In Germany 398 persons died in 2008 as a result
of fires!!!
