Great Esker Park is a geological formation along the Weymouth Back River in Weymouth, Massachusetts.
This area was formed by a glacier 12,000 years ago. It includes a Nature Study Center and small museum, bird watching where visitors may see in the summer and spring months Osprey who live in man-made shelters on the river, hiking on nature trails, a playground and picnic area.
Located on Elva Road, on the west side of the Back River and its salt marsh, the park features the highest esker in North America (90 ft), reversing falls, 237 acres (0.96 km2), and six miles (10 km) of trails. It is adjacent to Bare Cove Park.
Cache is located near a marshy area not far down from an elevated path. Take care coming down the hill. Cache is a large rectangular snap-and-lock plastic container with some trinkets and a logbook inside. There is a very nice view of the river and the marsh, especially in the early evening when the sun is starting to go down.
