Geocache Description:

This geocache is located very near the municipal landfill, just down from the former entrance on John Street Road. From your pull off spot you should be able to see evidence of a methane extraction project.

This cache was hidden for the Spring Cache Challenge. Do not look for it before 6pm, Friday, May 6, 2011!

This geocache is intended to illustrate some of the hazards encoutered by Black Bears that choose to frequent landfill sites where "free" meals are provided. Many smaller landfills can literally become the place to be - for both bears and the people that watch them. Dangerous close encounters are then a distinct possibility. Remember - these are not teddy bears but wild animals. Do not feed the bears!

Where this geocache is hidden, evidence is unfortunately all around of people disposing of their garbage in an inappropriate manner. Although this landfill is not known as a hot spot for bears, please still be careful. A quick scramble up the bank and the geocache will be immediately recognizeable; no need to go poking around in any garbage that may be blowing in the wind.
