This cache is dedicated to my great niece Mischa.
Mischa's parents bought me the original cache as a present knowing what I like to get up to each weekend and so as a thank you for their gift I decided to place it in an area that our extended family have spent a lot of time at over the summers.
Kaitarakihi Beach is tucked away past Cornwallis and before Huia and we've been coming here since I was a wee boy. It's a great family beach with picnic areas and calm tides to keep everyone happy and even when the carpark is busy there is always plenty of space to be found all for yourself.
The cache can be found tucked away up from the sand in a quieter area of the beach, but in summer prepare to be extra stealthy as you'd expect. It shouldn't be too tricky however my signal was bouncing around a bit when I placed it so any updates on coordinates if needed will be most appreciated.
Please keep an eye on the gate entry times when you enter. Usual hours are open during summer until 9pm and winter is between 5:30 and 7pm. The cache is accessible at any hour though - you'll just have to walk further. You're looking for a smallish bit of wood with a nano attached that has been left a little higher and dryer on a small shelf with a flax bush on it.
I hope anyone who comes here for the first time enjoys this place as much as we have over the years, and I hope Mischa herself will come and find it one day now that it's placed!
