This Cache is the 4th of 7 and can be combined with the caches below to make a circular route around this part of the Golden Cap Estate. See: Golden Cap 1: Welcome to Golden Cap (GC2RVDY) for full details about parking and the route.
This cache is in the old medieval village of Stanton Saint Gabriel’s, a village that is no longer there. You can however, still have a seat in the remainders of the old chapel and take a look at the old farmhouse that has been converted into National Trust Holiday Cottages. When they converted the farmhouse, they couldn’t work out why the outside was bigger than the inside, until it was realised that there was a secret gap in the wall to allow local smugglers to hide their stash!
This Geocache combines with the caches below to make a circular route around part of the estate. The complete route is a walk of a little over 2.5 miles (4.5km), which takes you down to St Gabriels before a steady climb brings you round the back of Golden Cap to return via the wood.
The cache is a small clip top box which contains a log book, pencil and small tradables. Please ensure the lid is on properly before replacing.
