Fort Morris Historic Site
Cache information: Steward: Asgoroth Park: Fort Morris Historic Site Cache type: Multi Difficulty: 2 Terrain: 1.5
Cache Description: This is a 3 stage multi cache. You must visit each stage posted in the additional waypoint section below. At each stage you will gather a part of the 4 digit combination that unlocks the ammo can that is placed at the posted coordinates, (inside the office). The geocache is only available during operating hours, Thursday through Saturday, 9am – 5pm. The site is closed New Year's, Thanksgiving and Christmas day. There is a admittance fee of $3 - $4.50 to enter the site. You will have a short walking tour in and among the remains of the historic coastal Fort Morris that will take you 20-30 minutes to complete. Paper and a writing instrument will prove useful as you gather information for the combination. This Geocache will be visited by non/new geocachers. It's recommended that you don't leave trackables in the Geocache. Stage 1. You should be standing in the exhibit area. On the top shelf of the first display case you will see an artifact recovered from this site. It is believed to be a hat or lapel pin. Count the total number of letters in the three words on the pin. This number = "AA" Stage 2. Read the number of "Continental Troops" that were with Colonel McIntosh. Add all of the digits together to get a 2 digit number. That number = "BB" Stage 3. This is a pleasant and shaded location. You might sit and watch the same sorts of coastal wildlife as the original soldiers would have seen. How many birds are identified at this location? This number = "C" Take "AA" and add it to "C". That result = "DD". The combination for the lock is "DDBB". When you’re ready, go to the posted coordinates and ask the attendant for the Geocache. Use the numbers “DDBB” to open the lock. If you trade for items from the geocache, remember to trade for something that is of equal or greater value.

Thirteen of these sites -- including this one -- are Multi-Caches, where you'll visit a number of locations (solving clues) that will give you the secret combination to open the geocache. Inside you'll find new prizes: History Trading Cards! New Sites, New rules, new prizes... but still the same fun and adventure of Georgia State Parks GeoTour. So whether you're a first-time or a seasoned pro, you can "Get Out. Get Dirty. And Get Fit" in a Georgia State Park today! How to Hit the History Trail: The History Trail crosses the entire state and features 14 new Historic Sites and Historic Parks! Each site has multiple locations that you will need to visit in order to solve several clues. Once they are solved and you’ve figured out the secret combination, to unlock the geocache, you’ll collect your History Trail Trading Card. (Please take only one.The card corresponds to the site and the historic group to which it belongs. Each historic group has multiple cards (Native Americans has 4 cards, Forts has 3 cards, Historic Homes has 2 cards, Plantations has 3 cards, Museums/Battlefields has 2 cards.) When you’ve completed a set (either by visiting or trading) you can turn them into a Ranger to receive your custom souvenir tokens! Since there are 5 historic groups, you can collect all 5 souvenir tokens!
