The Clashmach
A steady climb along an old, mostly disused green lane. Nothing too strenuous, just a steady gradient most of the way. Cache is a small cylindrical lock top box.
Clashmach Hill or The Clashmach, is a modest elongated ridge that dominates the skyline to the southwest of the old market town of Huntly. At 375m (1230ft) it is hardly a serious climb, but the views from the summit are spectacular and 360 deg. Landmarks to be spotted include;- The Glens of Foudland Wind Farm, Bennachie(as always), Tap 'o noth, The Buck 'o the Cabrach, Ben Rinnes, Ben Aigan, The Knock & the Coast. Do walk the ridge while you're up there, its easy & rewarding.
Parking is available at various points along the approach lane, N57.26.402 W002.48.394, but be sensible and don't block anything. Folow the lane to the right of the bungalow & it soon becomes a grassy path, and swings to the right, past a bench (a bbq area when we were there) and on up the hill.
