Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed in the Widows Walk City Park that overlooks Downtown Alton, the Clark Bridge and the Mississippi River.

A widow's walk,or roof walk, is a railed rooftop platform, typically on a coastal house, originally designed to observe vessels at sea. The name comes from the wives of mariners, who would watch for their spouses' return. In some instances, the ocean took the lives of the mariners, leaving the women as widows. The women often would thereafter gaze out to sea, wishing beyond hope that their loved ones would return home, and hence the name widow's walk was born. The wives of men who worked the Mississippi River or went off to the Civil War often walked those built in this region.

Al Chappell, 93, of Godfrey donated the walk to The City of Alton in 2008. The city sandblasted and repainted the ornate iron walk, which was built between 1860 and 1890 and once sat atop a home in Jersey County. The city also added a bench and landscaping to the small park.

You are searching for a metal film canister type container.

The hint is a spoiler! Bring a writing instrument to sign the log - this is a small log sheet so sign with date and name only.
