Mountaineers Cache Trail
This is a series of caches scattered about the peaks and ridges in the area. It is dedicated to all the inspiring stories, both success and tragic. These are the stories that inspire myself, along with many others alike, to keep climbing and see the world of possibilities. Keeping in the pioneer fashion these caches are not so easily accessible. The terrain is steep and trails are few but hey who said mountaineering was easy?
Some of the terrain can be difficult depending on your hiking experience so please be careful on your summit attempts. Bring lots of water in the summer and keep an eye out for the various creatures that may inflict harm to the ankles of those walking by.
The Tibetan name for Mount Everest is Chomolungma which translates to "Holy Mother of Earth" In 1856 Andrew Waugh who was the British Surveyor General of India changed the name to what we now know it as, Mt. Everest. Waugh named the peak after his predecessor in the post, and former chief, Sir George Everest.
Chomolungma stands at 8,848 meters or 29,029 feet. The mountain has two main routes one from the north east in Tibet and one from the south east in Nepal. The South east route through Nepal is techinaclly easier and was the route used by Sir. Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay when they pioneered the first ascent of the world roof top. Since then 216 people have died trying to make the same journey
The cache is a small pill bottle with some camo. This is the first time I've done a cache like this so hopefully it holds up. Be careful opening it and if the camo becomes not camo please place cache back in a similar position it was found and let me know so I can fix/upgrade it. There is some cash in the cache for the first to find.
