The cache is an area which is lost in oblivion. Now its an area frequented by morning walkers and people learning to drive a car.
Near to the cache location the rabindra rangshala, bhuli bhatiyari park and bhuli bhatiyari monument is there. There are some other massive concrete structures which are in ruins now. There is a canteen looking structure with lots of graffiti on the walls and roof.
Rabindra rangshala
Conceived and created by Mr Nehru in early 1960s it has a seating capacity of 8000-10000 spectators. It has the 100 x 68 ft. stage that could be modified in three different dimensions proportionate to the needs of the performance. The make-up rooms, green- rooms, costume rooms, rehearsal rooms and workshop for performances flank the stage on both. It is in a deplorable condition. Such a huge construction now in ruins. It has hardly witnessed 1 or 2 events since its inception.
Bhooli Bhatyari ka Mahal
Bhuli Bhatiyari Mahal was built by Feroz Shah Tughlaq in the 14th century as a hunting lodge or a ‘shikargarh’. Some historians maintain that it was named after the bhuri or the fair inn-keeper at the lodge. It is believed that Feroz Shah Tughlaq fell in love with the inn-keeper and the palace was later named after her as Bhuri Bhatiyari which got distorted to Bhuli Bhatiyari.
According to another legend, a woman from the Bhatiyara family had lost her way in the jungle and was rescued by Tughlaq who then built this mahal or palace for her. And so the name Bhuli (lost) Bhatiyari.
To access the cache you will need to climb. Its not recommended for people who have fear of heights. At the base of one of the canopy there is a foothold by which you can easily climb up.I would recommend that you wear shoes with good grip and not attempt the cache in rains. If you stand at the edge of the canopy on a clear day you can see the skyline of Connaught place. The edge might get a bit wobbly due to the wind and the weight but it’s generally safe to be there.
One can drive upto the cache site from the two way points entries.I recommend that one enters from one way point and exits from the other. Please note that "tall" SUV's wont be able to do the loop from waypoint E01 to E02.
The nearest metro station is jhandewalan.
