Abbeystead - Lane Traditional Cache
Team-SK: We have decided to put the rest of our Abbeystead series to bed. It was great whilst it lasted, a lovely area. We'll miss having the caches here. We will come and retrieve the container and trackable as soon as possible.

This cache is part of a series set around Abbeystead. The whole series takes about 2 and a half hours. This container is an old ice cream tub and on setting the cache, it contained the following: butterfly, pine cone, pen and logbook.
This cache is located on a steep road. Please walk carefully along here, especially with children. This cache is NOT safe as a drive by, there is no where safe to park on the bend.
Abbeystead is a small, picturesque village located in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
It lies close to the Trough of Bowland but even in medieval times, was considered part of Wyresdale rather than within the domain of that powerful local magnate, the Lord of Bowland, so-called Lord of the Fells.
The Abbeystead reservoir in view from this cache, was built in 1855 by Lancaster Corporation to supply mills lower down the River Wyre in the dry season. Although the reservoir is no longer in service it still features an attractive curved overflow.
Congratulations to 'campdave' for getting their first FTFs!
