Geocache Description:

The CSRA Geocachers welcome one and all to come paddle the Savannah
River on May 21st, 2011. Launch time will be 7 am. This paddle will be 16 miles starting in
Augusta, Georgia below the locks near Phinizy Swamp and paddling to
Jackson Boat Ramp. If for some reason someone would prefer to make
it a 12 mile paddle instead of 16 coords will be posted for a take
out point for just a 12 mile paddle also. It will be the responsibility
of each paddler to set up their own transportation to and from the
beginning and ending locations.

There will be a few places along the way to stop to stretch and
have a quick picnic lunch before continuing our paddle and picking
up caches along the way as well.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

PLEASE PUT THIS PAGE ON YOUR WATCH LIST FOR ANY UPDATES!!!

UPDATE: For those who are interesting in participating in this event or know someone interested in participating and do not have access to an kayak/canoe we are providing the following information. Escape Outdoors does now have kayak and canoe rentals. They do have shuttle service for the vessels but for the vessels only. At this time they do not have a van capable of shuttling individals. So if anyone is interested in renting a kayak/canoe for the event please call Matt Patrick at Escape Outdoors at 706-869-8080 or 706-564-1228. Make sure you mention that you will be participating in the event hosted by CSRA Geocachers because if they have more than 5 individuals rent from them the rental of your vessel will be reduced. The reduced rate would be $10.00 less than normal rates.

Normal Rates ~~~~~~~~~

Kayak Rental - Full Day $45.00 -- $55.00 including shuttle service
Canoe Rental - Full Day $60.00 -- $70.00 including shuttle service Each individual will be responsible for handling payment for their vessel with Escape Outdoors.

ALSO PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BOAT RAMP AT THE POSTED COORDINATES IS BEING REDONE AT THIS TIME. WE WILL BE POSTING ALTERNATE COORDINATES IF SO NEEDED BEFORE THE EVENT IN CASE THE RAMP IS NOT FINISHED BY THE PADDLE DATE. MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK THE DEPATURE COORDINATES THE DAY BEFORE THE EVENT TO ENSURE YOU HAVE THE PROPER COORDS. THIS INFORMATION WILL HAVE TO BE ADDED AS A NOTE OR IN THE BODY OF THE EVENT PAGE AS IT IS TO FAR AWAY FOR US TO CHANGE WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE REVIEWERS. MAKE SURE YOU CONTINUE TO BE ON THE WATCHLIST FOR THIS EVENT. SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE BUT WE DIDN'T KNOW THE RAMP WAS GOING TO BE REWORKED. THE ALTERNATE LOCATION IS NOT FAR FROM THE ORIGINAL POSTED COORDINATES.

Please Note ***
If you park in the LockNDam Park
be mindful of the park hours.
The Park is open at Dawn or around 5:00AM and closes at 8:00PM or at Dusk.
When leaving your vehicle at the park, remember
to lock up all valuables or take them with you.
You and You Alone are responsible for your property.
