emCache event on Saturday 7th May will be held
at "The Swan" pub in The Rushes, Loughborough starting at 7:30pm as
a tribute to our caching friend "somloci" (Lori),
aged 26 years, who died after a tragic accident in his native
Hungary. Lori was well known by the local caching community and
liked by everyone that knew him whilst he studied at Loughborough
University. Caches placed in the Loughborough area by somloci were
adopted by PlasmaWave & lgxkls when Lori returned to Budapest
in January 2011 after arranging a farewell event at the Swan.
The event will be held in The Swan dining/family room, which is
to the rear of the Lounge Bar (use the left-hand door as you enter
from the front). Children are welcome and food is available to
order on the night. Click link to check out beers available at the
Swan.
Please consider wearing a (sticky) label showing your geocache
username. Meeting other cachers is then made so much easier, as
shown by the very successful April emCache 'Super Springy Thingy'
event.
There is a bus stop opposite the Swan by the Amber Rooms pub,
served by bus routes 5, 11, 12, 126, 127, Sky, Sprint and many more
that stop nearby. There is limited parking in the tiny pub car park
to the rear, but you can park at the Regent Place Shopping Centre
(waypoint attached) just round the corner for £1 all evening (after
6pm). The event is within walking distance of Loughborough Train
Station.
A large number of new caches will be published on the
day of the event as a lasting tribute to Lori. These have
been placed by several cachers - ready for publication are
30 new caches on trails within and just outside
Loughborough, including a couple of simple 'in the field' puzzles
and a hybrid-letterbox. Specially commissioned "somloci" FTF badges
will be awarded at the event. In addition, there are many existing
caches available in and around Loughborough including an EarthCache
& three Virtuals. Hopefully many attendees will make a good
caching day of it then join the evening event, which is intended to
celebrate Lori's life and friendship. As a continuing tribute it is
hoped to make this an annual event coinciding with the 10 year
geocaching anniversary event organised by Lori at The Swan in
2010.
