Geocache Description:

Last Known Address Rocky Gully

Should be an easy find in the Dead Centre of Rocky Gully.

Due to my advancing age, I (and my doctor) am concerned about the possibility of my experiencing a medical situation while on the road to Maintain one or more of my 120 GC Geocaches and 50 GCA Geocaches.

If you live near this Geocache, or regularly travel near it, you might be interested in Adopting this Geocache (or more of mine). Please let me (WanderingAus) know by Message at
Geocaching Message Center
if you are interested, including the cache code or codes
(e.g GC2T442 for this cache).

Due to the temporary nature of pens and pencils in my geocaches
BRING YOUR OWN WRITING IMPLEMENT!!!

I enjoyed hunting down a couple of richlink's "Last Known Address" series of caches, and having spotted a large number of cemeteries in my travels I asked richlink if I could add to the "Last Known Address" series of caches. I received a reply in the affirmative on 5 May 2009, but I couldn't find my Round Tuit, so it took me a while to place any. (See my GC1RB3G WanAus 95 - Round Tuit if you don't know what that means.)

I wandered by, meandering from Frankland River towards Manjimup, and came across the Rocky Gully Cemetery. I was surprised to find it didn't have a cache, so I decided to rectify that situation.

The cache is not at the above co-ords but it is where you will find some of the information to locate GZ.

At the posted coords you are looking for the headstone of Private Benjamin Edward Pape. ABCDEFG = his Regimental Number.

Waypoint 2 is at S34°30.275' E116°59.317' where you will find the headstone of Flight Sergeant Geoffrey Gavin Dowling. HJKLMN = his date of birth, PQRSTUV = the date of his death.

The cache can be found at S34°30.FEA' E116°59.(H-J)(B+G)(R+V)'.

Tree cover at GZ might cause some cachers (particularly those using phones for caching) a little grief. To assist (or confuse) you I have included two easily identified waypoints from which you can make forward projections or backward bearings. (I suggest the "backward bearing" method, and Waypoint 3 is by it's nature the most accurate point to set your GoTo for).

Waypoint 3 is at S34°30.294' E116°59.317' This is the northeast corner of the path leading from the pergola, as indicated by the arrow in the photo.
GZ is B(C+F) metres away on a bearing of D(J-G)P° True.

Waypoint 4 is at S34°30.273' E116°59.323' This is the centre of the Memorial Gates (where they meet).
GZ is (Q-N)(R-M) metres away on a bearing of VR(H-B)° True.

I've tried to keep to the simple style of Richlink's caches, so they are all micro containers, although some are bigger than others.

This cache is a drab camo'd 120mm X 80mm X 40mm plastic container with a log, 2 pencils and a pencil sharpener. Please be sure to put the lid on tightly and conceal it as found, and watch out for muggles.
