BatCave Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mike463: The cache had a great run. I've been by several times to remove trash, clean out a dead dog someone dumped, lots of fun stuff. I'm out of state now and will not be able to take care of this.

Geocache Description:

Tired of all those lamp post and guard rail hides? Bored of all those ammo cans in the woods? Tired of bison tubes hanging in trees? This cache is a little different and a little more difficult. This hide is not for your average cacher. It's not a cache you would want to put on your ignore list, but it's definitely not for someone who is scared of bats, dark confined spaces, and damp floors.

A headlamp is highly recommended and if you don't own one, a regular flashlight will suffice. Wear some grubby clothes that are okay to get dirty. Bring a camera too. Bring your GPS, but understand that once you get to the entrance of the CAVE (yes, you read it right, it's a cave), your GPS will stop working.

The coordinates provided at the top of the cache page will bring you to within 6 feet of the cave entrance. Once you enter the cave, it is up to you to figure out where exactly the lock-n-lock is hidden. Use your geosenses and courage. It would be best if you didn't attempt this cache alone. You might need help retrieving the ammo can.

The cave is in the outskirts of Rockmart, GA. Once you are in Rockmart, you will find yourself driving on a winding road called Tolbert Town Road. This road will start out paved and then it will change to a gravel road. This gravel road will split at one point and when it splits, be sure to bear right. The coordinates for this split are referenced below. After the split, you will continue for just under one mile and then you will arrive at the cave entrance.

A turn around and parking spots are available approximately 100 feet past the entrance.

Please feel free to take pictures and post them with your logs. They are always enjoyable for other cachers to view. However, I ask that you DO NOT reveal the location of the container in your photos or your logs. This would spoil the fun for others.

As always, take caution, cache safely, and enjoy yourself. This is a great spot for CITO. I hauled away a bunch of trash myself while hiding the cache. And, please don't disturb the bats.
