Geocache Description:

We have enjoyed journeying with Tilley throughout his caching exploits and as he neared his 1000th find we began looking for the perfect spot to hide his golden ammo can. We knew this area was frequented by Tilley and his wife on evening walks, and we found a great spot along that trail to make the hide. Perhaps you may even see him on your hunt for the cache. Join us in celebrating his 1,000th cache with Tilley’s golden ammo can!



The Tilley Hat



We began caching with the mild mannered, endlessly entertaining Pittsford Tilley Hat last year. We had many adventures exploring many nearby trails and parks – all the while laughing and being entertained along the way! In an attempt to dodge some mysterious events in his past, his name was soon changed to The Tilley Hat. There are many rumors as to why this name change was needed, but the true story is best saved for another day! Word of his exploits soon spread far and wide across the geocaching community.

Tilley taught us that despite our challenges with a certain devil’s caches (he who will not be named) – that we were pink enough… and he even celebrated at recent caches with a victory dance! We will never hear “Whoop There It Is” again without thinking of Tilley. You never know what kind of adventure awaits you when caching with Tilley, but you can be guaranteed you will laugh hysterically and have a great time wherever you go!

Tilley has coined many phrases including "Bushwhacking makes me thorny” (which also launched the creation of a new t-shirt - what a trendsetter!) "I heart ammo cans" and cough "working" /cough.

Inside the cache you will find seven matchstick seedlings for Tilley celebration caches. Please do not take one if you do not plan to participate. Please put out a tribute cache to Tilley with the seedlings, and start your description with TTH: cache name. Please send us the GC code and we will post a link to the other caches here on the TTH: Golden Ammo page. Please share a story about TTH in your log, if you don’t have one – make one up – he always appreciates a big story!

To celebrate this grand achievement with us, head to the posted coords to find The Tilley Hat golden ammo can (a c-fire ammo can of course)! Inside is a “Bushwhacking makes me thorny” shirt for the FTF. We are also launching two travel bugs in honor of Tilley: Geoexposer 500 and Geoexposer 1000. Tilley’s geoexposers enabled many finds over the winter and deserved to be immortalized! Their mission is to travel to ammo cans since Tilley “hearts ammo cans” the best!
