Caveboy_ken: I am archiving this cache because there have been "no tresspassing" signes added to the area. My guess is that there have been issues with people dropping off garbage at the nearest parking location.
IT IS NOT BEING ARCHIVED BECAUSE IT NEEDED ATTENTION OR IS MISSING!!!!!!
I can't help but wonder if this some new GC mandate, to disable caches that haven't been found in a while? Pretty sad if that's true.
This cache has the attributes of no scenic view, not a park and grab, not winter friendly, ticks, poison ivy, and thorny plants in the area all of which are true even after I had beaten down the foliage over the years.
It's rated a 4.5D for a reason, it is/was NOT easy to find!
I visited to check up on it on the way home due to it being disabled, it was right where it belonged exactly in the place I put it when I re-enabled it back in April 2021, albeit a bit hard to locate today even for me after the snow knocked down all the grass. Yes, it would take some serious searching if someone didn't know exactly where to look but as mentioned above it is a 4.5D so it shouldn't be expected to be something easily found.
Other than the log being a tad damp everything was as it should have been. What was it you may ask? Located slightly off center of the tower on the southern side, a flat black painted bison with a black colored zip tie holding it on a flat black painted metal tent stake that had a loop twisted in it so as to hold it slightly above ground level just as the "well grounded" description implies.
Congrats to the 57 who have found it. I'm sorry for the 43 who weren't able to locate it over the years, I wish you the best in future hunts.
That's a 57% find rate over the life of this cache which I wouldn't consider bad at all.
Thanks for visiting....
