Geocache Description:

This cache is located a short distance off the Paine Creek
Trail, which is accessed by following the Beechwood Loop Trail from
the parking area.

  • Parking Lot is at 14435 Leroy Center Rd. Leroy, Ohio

Take a few moments to enjoy the gorgeous view of the Hell Hollow
Wilderness Gorge to your left before you decend the wood stairs
(234 steps). Your hike is less than 1/3 mile each direction,
however it IS a strenouous hike back up the 234 steps so keep
that in mind before attempting this hike. When you get to the
bottom of the long set of steps you will be standing on a flat
area. The cache is located in the area to the east/right.

I've hiked here with my dogs for many, many years as this is one
of my favorite LMPs. I met my first geocacher, Mike, while hiking
in this park back in 2002 with a friend.. Mike was returning from
checking his own geocache and stopped to say hi and meet our dogs.
During our conversation, Mike told us about geocaching. I was so
excited hearing about geocaching that I checked out the gc website
that same afternoon and within two days I had my first GPS and came
back to find my first geocache, Mike's: Devil's Pincushion. Thank
God for chance meetings...
