O vulcão da Praia da Luz

A Rocha Negra na Praia da Luz é um vestígio da actividade vulcânica em Portugal há mais de 70 milhões de anos.
Trata-se duma chaminé dum vulcão que se encontra extinto, visto não ter tido qualquer actividade nos últimos 10 mil anos, e representa uma intrusão de lava resultante das acções vulcânicas que originaram a superfície de parte do Algarve.

The volcano of Praia da Luz

Black Rock of Praia da Luz is the remaining proof of the volcano activity that existed in Portugal over 70 million years ago.
It is actually an extinguished volcano "chimney" since it hasn't had any activity in the past 10.000 years, and represents a lava intrusion resulting from the volcano activity that originated the surface of a great part of the Algarve.
