Geocache Description:

gemella ma più piccola

Vicino alla collina detta di San Colombano si eleva la Chiesa di San Grato.
Nascosta tra i boschi è la gemella della Chiesa di San Colombano.

Nel passato i vigneti di questa terra garantivano un leggendario vino bianco e fu proprio la presenza di tante vigne ad indurre alla costruzione di un nuovo edificio capace di soddisfare il desiderio di fede e raccoglimento degli abitanti.
Nell’estate del 1696 i brighesi inviarono all’autorità religiosa una petizione in cui si chiedeva l’autorizzazione ecclesiastica per costruire un edificio che potesse in qualche modo ospitare le funzioni religiose e ingraziarsi il santo protettore contro la grandine e le tempeste: San Grato. All’interno, infatti, è custodito un affresco raffigurante il Santo, opera del pittore valsesiano Gianoli nel 1896.

Hidden in the woods this church is the twin of St. Colombano's church.
In the past the vineyards of this region promise a legendary white wine and it was the presence of so many vineyards to encourage the construction of a new building capable of satisfying the desire for faith and concentration of population.
In the summer of 1696 the Briga religious authority sent a petition seeking permission to build a church, building that could somehow accommodate the religious and curry favor with the patron saint against hail and storms: San Grato.
Inside, in fact, it houses a fresco of the saint, painted in 1896 by valsesian painter Gianoli
