Geocache Description:

This cache is part of a series set around the beautiful village of Abbeystead, It will take about 2 and a half hours to complete the circular walk.

On nice days, this can be a very busy spot, so stealth would be needed. Please re hide well. There is NO NEED to remove any stones from the wall.

Abbeystead is a small, picturesque village located in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Tarnbrook Wyre at Stoops Bridge.

The right-hand arch of the mid-19th Century (and now Grade II Listed) sandstone bridge is normally dry, but as the presence of this gravel bar 'beach' indicates, flow is frequently higher.

Three hundred metres downstream of the bridge, the Tarnbrook Wyre meets the Marshaw Wyre and enters Abbeystead Reservoir. The combined watercourse leaving at the other end of the lake is the River Wyre.
