Geocache Description:

A series of 11 caches, some of which contain clues which should lead you to this bonus cache.
The cache is not at the above co-ords but is a suggested on road parking.

Old Sweeties
A series of caches to evoke nostalgic memories of a long lost – misspent - youth for the more mature cacher and hopefully to inform and encourage the younger ones to discover the delights of Gran & Granddads’ childhood.

These confections used to be available in almost every corner shop or newsagents or tuck shop. Sadly today, whilst most are still manufactured; many of them are only available in specialist shops in Tourist areas or via the internet.

Many of our childhood sweets which were always known as ‘spice’ probably because Ginger, Cardamom, Aniseed and other exotics like Menthol and Cochineal (obtained from a beetle) were used in their manufacture, were weighed out by the shopkeeper, usually sporting a smart brown overall, and put in a paper bag; 2oz went into a cone shaped bag and if you were lucky enough to be able to afford a quarter (4oz) then these came in a larger square paper bag.
Nowadays most sweets are pre-wrapped in the factory in colourful plastic bags.

If you don’t know about pounds and ounces - Mums and Dads - you will have to ask Gran & Grandad to explain.

Contains a Yorkshire Day Geocoin for the First To Find and a selection of goodies for following cachers.
Please do not be greedy boys and girls, when they are gone they will not be replaced and the cache will revert to a small clip lock box.

The Walk
Adequate on road Parking is available close to Cache #1
Whilst some of the caches are accessible by car you are advised and encouraged to walk the route as the road surfaces are unmade and uneven and parking is difficult and will draw attention. The walk is approx. 4 miles long and mostly flat, some of the paths can be muddy in places after prolonged rain so wear suitable footwear. We estimate that most could do this series in approx. 2+hours
We have tried where possible to make this a family walk however. please note a very short section of the walk is not currently easy for those with Buggies although there are plans to repair the surface in the near future.
Please see individual caches for specific details.

**please note that not all the caches have a pen, bring your own**
