Geocache Description:

This cache is a sequel to my first (Feathers, Fur or Fins), and is accessible from Fallon Drive at the break in the guardrail. The descent towards GZ isn't difficult, although you will need to approach GZ from north or south to be at the correct level to retrieve the cache. There are wonderful bush views at this location, as well as a wide array of wildlife.

The name of this cache comes from an encounter I had whilst hiding the cache with a pair of Southern Leaf-tailed Geckos. After accidentally shifting a piece of sandstone, the geckos were left quite exposed (despite their excellent camoflague). I thought I could use a small stick to gently herd them into a nearby overhang, lest they become another creature's dinner. The larger gecko required a few gentle prods before it scurried into the overhang, while the smaller of the pair let out a huge shriek before scurrying off!! XD It continued to make its strange shrieking noises on and off from within its hiding spot for a few minutes afterwards! After doing a bit of research on the internet, it seems some geckos use shrieking as a defense mechanism to scare off predators (used in preference to shedding their tails). It sure gave me a fright!!! Here's a youtube video with a sound recording (I wasn't continually touching the gecko as in the recording, only one touch just set it off!!). Also, for some quick gecko facts see this website.

WARNING: There are a few medium drop offs in this area ...please be careful when approaching GZ. There is a small ledge from which the cache can be reached, but its a little bit mossy, so please watch your footing!!! (especially after rain). Attempting this cache at night is NOT recommended due to the terrain hazards!!

Housekeeping: Please leave the pencil sharpener in the cache, and make sure the snap-lock bag containing the log book + sharpener (-not- including pencil) is sealed back up when you leave! Thanks ^_^
