Det første kirkebygget i Spydeberg ble antakelig reist så tidlig som rundt år 1000 på gården Spjotaberg, som senere har gitt navnet til stedet. På 1200-tallet ble det bygget en steinkirke på stedet, og restene etter denne finnes den dag i dag i steinmurene rundt kirken.
I 1841 ble kirken rammet av lynnedslag og kirken ble helt ødelagt. Noe av inventaret ble reddet og finnes i dag i Oldsakssamlingen. Et nytt kirkebygg ble reist, og dette stod ferdig i 1844. Av interiøret nevnes spesielt døpefonten som er av kleberstein og stammer fra 1100-tallet! Kirken har ca 230 sitteplasser.

The first church in Spydeberg was probably built as early as around 1000 BC on the farm "Spjotaberg", who later gave the name to the village. In the 13th century, there was built a stone church on the site and the remains of this exists today in the stone walls around the church.
In 1841 the church was struck by lightning and the church was completely destroyed. Some of the furnishings were rescued and are today in the Oldsakssamlingen. A new church building was built, and was completed in 1844. The church has about 230 seats.
