My first geocache, a lock n lock on the north bank of the Pointer Club Brook, a tributary of the mighty Merrimack River. Please read the description carefully else you may get a bit lost! I also strongly recommend downloading the waypoint included as well. However, you can get to this cache any way you want!
The best way (and the recommended walk) to get to this cache by car is to pull into the road running between Coastal Lumber and the new bridge. Once you take this turn, Coastal Lumber will be on your left and the bridge on your right. There will be a small tunnel in front of you; once past this tunnel, there is a small turnaround area. I included a waypoint to this turnaround. I recommend parking here. There is a propane depot further down this street, walk to the back of this depot and you will be on Herritage Trail. Once you hit the trail, take a right, and walk under the new bridge, keeping the railroad tracks to your left. Once an anti-car chain link fence is in front of you, walk around the fence. Take a few steps, and with the fence to your back, stand so the tracks are still to your left, look to the right, there will be a path made of pallets leading through the undergrowth. Unfortunatly the undergrowth is very heavy here, so the pallets don't go the entire way. However, it's obvious which way to go, but a bushwack will still be required. Watch your step! Once you enter the woods, there is alot of ferns tangling the area, but it should be obvious enough where to go. To reach the cache, remember to keep the brook to your LEFT and follow the natural/manmade trail, in some places, still pretty covered up by ever-present ferns. You will be able to cross a couple walking bridges and will pass several benches in scenic areas.
