Geocache Description:

Old Cementerys can be great places to explore. From both Environmental and historical view points.

The Queenstown Cementery at Smiths Gully is a prime example of the value of an old cementery. On the tomb stones are the names that make the history of the area. Many a road is named after these people. This extends from the early gold miners and settlers that first came to the area.

Environmentally this is also a significant area as it supports many threatened plant species, that only survive here because of the lack of disturbance. In a way it is a remnant of the original vegetation of the area before we arrived.

Enjoy a walk around and if the history is of further interest then take the walking track across the road. This should also be used if you are going to do the multi cache "Sparkys First" that uses some of the tombstones for hints of how to find it. This is where "The Dead May Help"

When doing this cache careful where you place your feet when walking, some of the plants are meat eaters (Droseria) and quite delicate. Also ensure cache is well hidden.

Original Contents are; Bed socks, golf ball, tape, glue, D-shckle, D-clip, Wani Sister Travel Bug.
