Peltier Lake Pelicans Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

B0RDE: Winter hit and this cache went missing. Cache was not in its hidey hole and was not located in the snow banks around the tree. Its a great lake view, but was a bit out of the way. The beavers changed the tree the cache was hidden in more than once. Thanks for visiting.

Geocache Description:

This past week, in April 2011, Peltier Lake in Centerville and Lino Lakes has been invaded by American White Pelicans. Dozens and up to hundreds of Pelicans have spent the last week here. On one of our walks over this week, I decided to hide a cache here and snapped these photos.

Peltier Lake is 466 acres with a maximum depth of 18 ft. Peltier is a very popular fishing lake, both summer and winter. Boat access is located adjacent to the dam on the outlet in Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park operated by Anoka County, though no boat is needed to find the cache. The lake has a surface water regulation limiting travel in the north end of the lake to slow, no wake. The purpose of the regulation is to limit intrusion on the colony of nesting herons located on an island in the north bay of this lake.
