St Clement's
Knowlton has always been a small estate community and it is largely thanks to the generosity of the families who owned the manor that St Clement's church has been maintained so beautifully over the years. In 1991 St Clements, a Grade I listed building, was vested into The Churches Conservation Trust and will be preserved and conserved for the nation. St Clements interior has great charm and shows what a small estate church would have looked like before the Victorian's obsession with 'medieval' re-furnishing. As in most estate churches, the memorials to manor incumbents found within the church are one of it's greatest features, together with wall plaques and stained glass windows.
Due to the secluded nature of the church, and it's proximity to the Estate Office, your presence may not go unnoticed. Although placed with permission, please be mindful when searching for the cache.
