Geocache Description:

Within Birkenhead Park there are many different types of trees ranging from the familiar Oak, Sycamore and Chestnut to the more exotic Cucumber Tree, Strawberry Tree and Black Mulberry.

The oldest tree in the park is a Majestic English Oak planted over 250 years ago when most of the area was still rural farmland, and America hadn’t even been discovered! It can be found just off the path next to the cricket pitch at the co-ordinates listed below

Nearby there are also two special trees. The Shakespeare Oak was planted in April 1864 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Bards birth, whilst another Oak was planted for the Coronation of King Edward VII in 1902.

Please note, that although the park is open to pedestrians at all times, the large vehicular gates are locked at dusk. If you are attempting the cache in the evening it is advisable to leave your car outside the park so it does not get locked inside.

Thanks to the Birkenhead Park Rangers for all their assistance in placing this cache.
