A peaceful walk along the banks of the River Otter
Suggested parking is in the main street of the pretty village of Otterton, where the working mill (limited milling dates) with Craft centre, cafe and toilets is well worth a visit.
The cache is not located on the bridge but in nearby Park Lane, where you can still see the entrance pillars to a house that was planned for Otterton Park in the 1780s. Sadly, the house was never built and we have read that this was because the last male heir of the Duke family fell off his horse and died before work began. The estate and Manor of Otterton was then sold to the Rolle family.
For a lovely circular walk continue east along Park Lane, which will take you back into the village. The lane has now been closed to cars after part of it fell into the river, but it is very popular with walkers & cyclists.
By approaching from Park Lane, the general location is easily accessible by wheelchair, but you will probably need help in retrieving the cache.
