Geocache Description:

DAYLIGHT ONLY CACHE
This cache has been in the planning for a while as I am fascinated by this piece of equipment! It is on a slotting machine (a what?! Description given below) on one of our main roads out of town. Best parking in on King Street. Another Southward4 cache where a pair of tweezers and your own pen are necessary. When replacing the log, please put in lid and then close. Approval has been given by the owners of the machine for daylight hours only.

A slotting machine is used for taking straight 'gouges' (i.e. removing material) out of metal parts. For example, a slotter can put a key way into a circular wheel hub. The type of 'gouge' made by the slotter machine depends on the type of cutting tool used.
