Geocache Description:

This is one in a series of caches sponsored by Boy Scout Leaders in Central New Jersey Council BSA that will feature Eagle projects.

Eagle is the highest rank that a boy can earn in scouts. He has to complete at least 21 merit badges (12 specific required ones and 9 others of his choosing). He also has to hold a position of leadership in the troop for at least 6 months, plus plan and carry out a service project that benefits either a religious or community organization. Many of these projects exceed 100 man-hours to complete. The scout has to fund-raise to pay for this also.

There will be a total of 13 caches in the series. The first 12 will be named for the 12 points of the Scout Law: “A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent”. The 13th cache will be a puzzle cache. There is a clue in each of the first 12 that taken together will give you the co-ordinates of the final cache. As you visit each of the caches, be sure to collect the clue in each one so that you can gather the co-ordinates for the final puzzle cache. These all will be coming out soon. Completion of the whole series will enable you to purchase a special patch designed for our council to commemorate this series.

This cache is located in Mercer County Park near the beginning of the 9-Hole Disc Golf course. This project was done by Eagle Scout Joe P of Troop 2002. It took donations and extensive fund-raising to get the $4479.00 needed for this project. It then took 335 hours to build. This is a very busy course. It was difficult for me to get time in the area as there were 3 groups using this today. You will find at each ‘hole’ a gravel area that is framed in wood that is the Tee off spot. At each tee are two spots, the A area for advanced players and the B tee for beginners. You will be aiming your disc (like a Frisbee) at a metal stand with a basket attached to it. When you score that hole, you will see the next tee-off spot a short distance away. This really looks like a lot of fun. And the one guy I spoke to indicated that there are leagues in the area and this course is used constantly. So bring the family for a round.

You are looking for a small sized Lock-n-Lock that has been spray-painted camo. It is close to hole 1, but well into the bushes so hopefully it won’t be seen and is easily accessed from the parking area.
