The cache is placed in Futago shrine.
I set a cache at a small park where a big monument is standing.
This monument is a work of Okamoto Taro, is devoted to her mother, Okamoto Kanoko.
Okamoto Taro is the artist who represents Japan in the post war period. He was born in Feb. 26 1911. His father, Okamoto Ippei, was a very popular comic artist. It is said "Even a man who don't know who is the prime-minister, knows Okamoto Ippei." His mother Okamoto Kanoko was a tanka-poet, an author, and a Buddhism philatelist. It looks an artistic family. But it also was quite a unique family.
Ippei led a profligate life, and it makes Kanoko neurasthenic. Ippei felt responsible for it, and was back to home, but Kanoko can't love him anymore. So Kanoko began to commit adultery. Even so, Ippei kept supporting her appetence creation. When Taro at an early age bothers her work, She tied him to a post with "Obi". Subsequently Taro said "She was the worst as a mother." But he also said "I felt ineffable sacredness, sense of unity with endearment to her who didn't care me on her back covered with black hair."
Taro devoted this monument to her named "Proud". A staunch passion for art must tie this family each other unimaginably strong. You can see the untiring dedication to art in this monument.
There is an inscription written by Kawabata Yasunari who is a winner of the Nobel prize for literature.
ここには小さな公園ですが、大きなモニュメントがそびえています。
このモニュメントは岡本太郎の作品で、彼の母である岡本かの子の文学碑です。
岡本太郎は日本を代表する芸術家で、1911年2月26日に生まれました。父一平は、「宰相の名は知らぬが、岡本一平なら知っている」と言われるほどの人気漫画家。母かの子は歌人、作家であり仏教研究者。まさに芸術一家でした。しかし、同時にとても変わった一家でもありました。。
一平は家庭を顧みず放蕩三昧の日々を送り、かの子は神経衰弱となってしまいます。一平は反省して家庭に戻りますが、今度はかの子が一平を愛することができず、不倫を繰り返すように。。。それでも一平はかの子の旺盛な創作活動を支え続けました。かの子は幼い太郎がかまって欲しさに創作の邪魔をすると、柱に帯でくくりつけて創作に没頭したそうです。太郎は後に、「母親としては最低の人だった。」と語っています。しかしまた、「何もしてくれない母の黒髪をばさりと背にたらした後姿に言いようのない神聖感、一体の親愛を覚えていた。」とも語っています。
太郎は、そんな母かの子へ「誇り」と題したこの文学碑を捧げました。芸術に対する揺らぎのない情熱。それがこの家族を、普通では考えられないほど強く結びつけていたのではないでしょうか。このモニュメントからはこの一家の一途な思いが見える気がします。
公園の中には、ノーベル文学賞受賞者の川端康成の筆による碑もあります。
