Geocache Description:

The southernmost summit of the Hellvelyn ridge, Dollywaggon Pike rises to 2,815ft (it’s grown 5ft since Wainwright passed this way !) and is the 18th highest of the Wainwrights. It has three distinct sides. To the west it falls in an undistinguished fashion to the A591. This side is called Willy Wife Moor which does beg the question who was Willy and what was his wife doing up there ? The south side towers over Grisedale Tarn and has the tourist path from Grasmere ascending it in sweeping zig-zags. The crowning glory of Dollywaggon Pike though is undoubtedly the east face which plunges down over crags to Cock Cove. The east ridge is by far the best way up Dollywaggon Pike, but it is often/nearly always overlooked in preference to its more famous neighbours to the north. The same can be said for the east ridge of the adjacent Nethermost Pike. Two routes for the connoisseur.

The cache is placed just below the summit, close to the path to Nethermost Pike. As with all my caches it is a small tupperware box containing a logbook and pencil. There is room for coins and small TB’s. It is, and hopefully will remain, a tat free zone ! It is under a boulder and hidden by a stone. Please see spoiler as I wouldn’t want you to come here and DNF.

The cache is placed with the permission of the United Utilities Thirlmere Office.
