Admiral John Jervis - a hero of Stone
**Please replace the container exactly as you find it**
Born just outside Stone in Staffordshire in 1735, he rose to be First Lord of the Admiralty. He ran away to join the navy at thirteen as an able seaman, and at the age of twenty-five had command of his own ship. Admiral Sir John Jervis was appointed command of the Mediterranean Fleet in 1796 at the age of 62.
He served for 73 years in the Royal Navy, winning many famous victories and became Earl St Vincent, as a result of his victory over the Spanish Fleet at Cape St Vincent, during the Napoleonic wars in 1797.
Thanks to tdcacher for letting us know that the Admiral's mausoleum is close by St Michael's church.
The cache is a nano in a high muggle area of Stone.
