Petty Family Camping Series is a series of easy caches around an area that has been camped by my family for generations. The caches will be a mix of micro to regular size caches with different terrains and difficulties with the main goal to just get the cacher to and out in these areas and enjoy them just as my family has done.
Bickle Knob is a mountain summit located east of Elkins in Randolph County, West Virginia. Easily accessible during warm-weather months, Bickle Knob is also home to one of the few remaining observation towers in Monongahela National Forest.
Formerly a fire tower, the original cab has been removed and replaced with a wooden viewing platform. The observation tower provides 360-degree views of the surrounding area including the Shavers Fork River, Tygart Valley River valley, the U.S. Route 33 crossing of Cheat Mountain, and the new wind farm placed on Laurel Mountain.
