Ein Blick in die Sterne und man ist einfach schlauer! - Have a look at the stars and you know better!

An diesem Ort wurde vor über 100 Jahren die Hamburger Sternwarte ausgelagert, nachdem man mitten in der Hamburger Innenstadt mit immer schwierigeren Beobachtungsbedingungen zu kämpfen hatte. Damals eine sehr moderne Anlage, werden die Geräte auch heute noch aktiv genutzt. Dennoch gibt es großen Sanierungsbedarf, sowohl in technischer Hinsicht als auch bei den Gebäuden, der von einem Förderverein gebündelt wird. Seit Sommer 2007 wird auf dem Gelände in der ersten Hamburger Montessori-Schule unterrichtet. Gegründet von einer Elterninitiative wurde das Lippert-Gebäude komplett renoviert und dient heute als Lehrerzimmer, Sekretariat, uvm. In zwei Schulpavillions findet der Unterricht praktisch "mitten im Grünen" statt. Die enge Verbindung mit der Sternwarte führte zu dem Motto "Lernen unter Sternen". Im März 2011 wurde das Besucherzentrum Sternwarte eröffnet und hat seitdem immer Samstag und Sonntag geöffnet. Bei Kaffee und Kuchen lässt es sich dort wunderbar genießen.

Das Gelände der Sternwarte ist nicht immer geöffnet, es gibt dennoch reichlich Möglichkeiten, sich die Sternwarte anzuschauen, sei es bei der langen Nacht der Museen, den Veranstaltungen des Fördervereins oder über individuelle Führungen und sogar organisierte Kindergeburtstage.

Es muss (und soll) kein Zaun überstiegen werden, keine geschlossenen Türen überklettert werden oder anderweitig auf privaten Grundstücken gesucht werden. Der Cache ist frei zugänglich.

Over a hundred years ago the Hamburg Observatory has moved to this place due to the difficult conditions of observation in the middle of Hamburg's city. At that time a very modern construction, the equipment is still active used. However, there are large renovation needs, both in technical terms as well as in buildings, which is supervised by the society of friends of the observatory. More on the history and the individual telescopes and buildings can be found on the institute page (History only German).

Summer 2007 the first Hamburg Montessori school started at the site. Founded by a parents' initiative the Lippert building was completely renovated and now serves as a staff room, office, and many more. Placed in two pavilions lessons are given almost directly "in the green". The close connection with the observatory led to the motto "Learning under the stars". In March 2011 the visitors' center opens and since then always open on Saturday and Sunday. Just relax with some coffee and cake and enjoy the surrounding area.

The ground of the observatory is not always open, but there are still a plenty of ways to visit the observatory, be it the Museums' Night, the events of the friends of the observatory or individual tours and even organized children's birthdays.

Neither a fence must (and should) be crossed nor closed doors be climbed over nor other search on private ground is necessary. The cache is freely accessible.
