The Wharauroa Track requires crossing of farmland to access the
bushline.
From the Car park follow the white pole markers up,using stiles
where supplied.
We continued on here from Wharauroa peak on the Pirongia Hut
summit track when we were up here today.
Thought it deserved a cache as the visit was awesome.
The track to here from Wharauroa is a different style to the
climb up from OShea Road.
It is quite root laden and boggy in spots with some sharp
climbs.
The trees are stunted and lichen covered and some quite dark areas
despite being daylight.
Generally wet everything you touch and quite cool
temperatures.
Took us 15-20mins to walk here and was well worth it.
This peak is slighty higher than Wharauroa and 60m lower than
Pirongias summit.
Stunning views around and you can make the summit tower from here
if you add another 1-2 hours.
Cache is a camoflaged drink bottle containing
log capsule and pen and thats about it.
Please bring a pen just in case,and please ensure the containers
are sealed when you are finished...thanks
