Geocache Description:

Cache replaced, coords updated, new logbook, sway. Updated the clue. Enjoy the area where there was substantial tree fall during the tornado. Be sure to walk the extra 100 feet around the loop, some big trees! Parking is at 42 05.8440, 72 05.4714 off Old Sturbridge Village Road. Cache now a 7" x 3.5"dia camo-taped bottle.

Thanks to the trail crews for making this area accessible again in 2011 after tornado. Nice short hike to this island over a bridge and a nice loop going through some very tall trees near the end of the loop. Old topo maps showed a structure near where the broken down hearth is but I have no idea what it was. Many of the old growth trees came down during the tornado of June 2011. Feel free to count the rings of the cut trees! Note how all the old dead trees were left standing. The ponds and streams have changed in the last year as two dams and a spillway have been taken down. The pond beds are filling with new vegetative growth.
