Wes Leonard, a 16 year old from Fennville, MI, was an excellent quarterback and basketball player for the Fennville Blackhawks. On Mar 3, 2011 shortly after Wes made the final basket in overtime of the final game of an undefeated season in their league, Wes fell to the floor of the gym with a fatal heart attack. He was a very fine young man and was buried about 135 feet north and slightly west of the cache location. (N 42 35.700 and W 086 07.461) The grave marker is worth a little walk. Although we did not know Wes, we feel very connected. First, we have a summer home less than mile from this cemetary. Second, we watched his coach play for Hope College where we are avid fans. Third, Fennville's next three games after Wes' death were played at the beautiful DeVos fieldhouse at Hope where we sit at almost every Hope game.(see my cache FINAL FOUR GC1NTZD)
And finally, Wes' funeral was held at Christ Memorial Church where we are members along with Wes' grandmother.
