Memories of the CNW Railroad Traditional Cache
Team_Schnauzer: After careful consideration, we've decided to archive this one. A few cachers have told us that they felt unsafe at this location and we understand that. There has been an increase in traffic at this spot since we first set the container out and the right thing to do here is to send this to archive. It had a good run, but I don't want people getting hurt.

A quick park and grab along Story County E-41 between Nevada and Colo (this is the Lincoln Highway).Please watch for traffic and muggles near the cache site and make sure that you are parked completely on the shoulder of the road!
Anyone that grew up in this area probably knows something about the old Chicago & Northwestern Railroad (the CNW). I have fond memories of these trains passing just a few blocks from my house as a kid. I always remember hearing the horn off in the distance and running to the end of the street so I could get a glimpse of those awesome forest green and yellow painted diesel locomotives with the "UFO" logo painted on the side.
Well, the CNW isn't around anymore after it was purchased by Union Pacific in April of 1995 and they still own these lines. This location where the north-south line meets the east-west lines near this cache site was at one time the junction of CNW's most important sets of lines.
You can see the place where these important rail lines crossed just to the NE of the cache location. The north-south line runs under the east-west line and the tracks intersect at the stone bridge.
